Trong một diễn biến đáng chú ý, vụ kiện do Ủy ban Chứng khoán và Giao dịch Hoa Kỳ (SEC) đệ trình chống lại những người sáng lập Ripple, Brad Garlinghouse và Chris Larsen, đã bị hủy bỏ.
Việc bác bỏ vụ kiện xảy ra sau khi cả hai bên đã đồng ý, do đó không cần thiết phải tổ chức phiên điều trần dự kiến vào tháng 4 năm sau.
Giám đốc điều hành Ripple Brad Garlinghouse đã nói như sau về chủ đề này:
“Nói một cách nghiêm túc, Chris và tôi đã bị SEC nhắm đến (trong một vụ án không liên quan đến bất kỳ cáo buộc gian lận hoặc xuyên tạc nào) trong một nỗ lực tàn bạo nhằm tiêu diệt cá nhân chúng tôi và công ty mà rất nhiều người đã dày công xây dựng.
SEC đã nhiều lần làm ngơ khi bí mật gặp gỡ những tổ chức như SBF và nhiều lần thất bại trong việc bảo vệ người tiêu dùng và doanh nghiệp Hoa Kỳ. Bao nhiêu triệu đô la tiền thuế của người dân đã bị lãng phí?!”
Chủ tịch Ripple Chris Larsen đã nói như sau về chủ đề này:
Hôm nay, chúng tôi đã được minh oan về mặt pháp lý và cá nhân trong cuộc chiến chống lại nỗ lực đáng lo ngại nhằm lạm dụng các quy tắc nhằm thúc đẩy một chương trình nghị sự chính trị nhằm tiêu diệt tiền điện tử ở Mỹ.
