Cựu giám đốc điều hành của BlackRock, Steven Schoenfield, tin rằng SEC có thể phê duyệt quỹ Bitcoin ETF trong vòng 3–6 tháng tới dựa trên áp lực pháp lý ngày càng tăng.
Phát biểu tại hội nghị thượng đỉnh về tài sản kỹ thuật số ở London, Giám đốc điều hành của MarketVector Indexes đã đưa ra đánh giá về khung thời gian mà các nhà quản lý sẽ phê duyệt Bitcoin ETF.
Schoenfield cho rằng việc SEC trì hoãn các quỹ Bitcoin ETF không hẳn là điều tồi tệ, theo ông, điều này còn đỡ hơn là từ chối hoàn toàn.
Schoenfield nhận thấy sự thay đổi trong cách tiếp cận của SEC có thể dẫn đến việc phê duyệt Bitcoin ETF
Thay vì đưa ra những lời từ chối chung chung như trước đây, SEC gần đây đã chọn cách sẽ tiếp nhận mọi phản hồi về các đơn đăng ký Bitcoin ETF, lắng nghe ý kiến của các bên. Theo Schoenfield cho biết SEC đã có sự thay đổi trong cách tiếp cận các quỹ Bitcoin ETF, đây là một bước nhỏ nhưng có ý nghĩa hướng tới đối thoại có thể đẩy nhanh quá trình phê duyệt trong tương lai.
Ông cũng trích dẫn việc SEC đã thua kiện trước thách thức pháp lý từ Grayscale liên quan đến việc chuyển đổi Bitcoin Trust sang định dạng ETF. Thất bại đó có thể buộc SEC phải cho phép các quỹ Bitcoin ETF ra mắt.
Trước đây, Schoenfield dự báo sẽ mất 9–12 tháng để vượt qua các trở ngại pháp lý đối với Bitcoin ETF nhưng hiện tại thời gian dự báo đã rút ngắn còn 3 đến 6 tháng, cho thấy niềm tin ngày càng tăng vào việc Bitcoin ETF sẽ được cơ quan quản lý chấp thuận.
Tuy nhiên, các nhà phân tích khuyên nhà đầu tư nên thận trọng và lạc quan, không nên quá hy vọng vào các Bitcoin ETF.
Một nhà phân tích cho biết hy vọng SEC sẽ khai thác mọi lựa chọn để kéo dài quá trình phê duyệt. Tuy nhiên, áp lực rõ ràng đang gia tăng từ nhiều phía nhằm thúc đẩy một phán quyết có lợi cho Bitcoin ETF.
Các cuộc tranh luận về quy định vẫn tiếp tục khi quỹ ETF hợp đồng tương lai Bitcoin đầu tiên sắp kỷ niệm một năm thành lập. Bất chấp khối lượng giao dịch khổng lồ, các sản phẩm dựa trên hợp đồng tương lai thiếu khả năng tiếp cận và tiếp xúc trực tiếp mà nhiều nhà đầu tư vẫn thèm muốn.
Việc phê duyệt Bitcoin ETF spot vẫn là một trong những “chén thánh” của ngành để giải phóng hàng tỷ USD vốn từ các nhà đầu tư tổ chức mới. Trong khi SEC chần chừ, các công ty như Grayscale hướng đến việc buộc phải có hành động quyết đoán thông qua các kênh pháp lý.
