Theo tuyên bố, các bản cập nhật nhắm đến các nhà môi giới quan tâm đến việc cung cấp các sản phẩm liên quan đến tiền điện tử cho các nhà đầu tư.
Các biện pháp bảo vệ nhà đầu tư mới đặc biệt áp dụng đối với tài sản ảo được phân loại là sản phẩm phức tạp.
Bản cập nhật đầu tiên bao gồm hạn chế bán hàng. Theo tuyên bố của cơ quan quản lý, các sản phẩm liên quan đến tài sản ảo, được coi là sản phẩm phức tạp, chỉ có thể được khuyến nghị cho các nhà đầu tư chuyên nghiệp.
Bản cập nhật thứ hai yêu cầu các nhà môi giới thiết lập một phương pháp để đánh giá xem khách hàng của họ có hiểu biết về việc đầu tư vào tài sản ảo hay sản phẩm tài sản ảo hay không.
“Bài kiểm tra kiến thức về tài sản ảo” này phải được vượt qua trước khi người môi giới có thể tiến hành giao dịch.
Nếu khách hàng không có kiến thức được chỉ định trong bài kiểm tra, nhà môi giới vẫn có thể thực hiện giao dịch với điều kiện họ cung cấp đào tạo đầy đủ cho khách hàng.
Các nhà đầu tư tổ chức chuyên nghiệp đủ điều kiện được miễn bài kiểm tra này.
“SFC và HKMA đã xem xét các chính sách hiện tại của họ dành cho các bên trung gian muốn tham gia vào các hoạt động liên quan đến tài sản ảo. Chính sách này đã được cập nhật dựa trên những phát triển gần đây trên thị trường và nhu cầu của ngành, nhằm mở rộng hơn nữa cơ hội tiếp cận cá nhân thông qua các trung gian và cho phép các nhà đầu tư gửi và rút tài sản ảo trực tiếp đến và từ các trung gian với các biện pháp bảo vệ thích hợp.”
