Thành viên BRICS Ấn Độ không phải là quốc gia duy nhất đang cố gắng ngăn chặn sự tăng trưởng của đồng đô la Mỹ. Đối tác BRICS của nó, Trung Quốc, đang sử dụng các chiến thuật khác nhau để hạn chế sự tăng trưởng của đồng đô la Mỹ so với Nhân dân tệ Trung Quốc. Động thái này diễn ra khi liên minh BRICS đang tìm cách thúc đẩy đồng nội tệ bằng cách loại bỏ đồng đô la Mỹ trong thương mại.
Trung Quốc công bố quy định mới rằng các tổ chức tài chính của nước này chỉ được giữ tiền gửi bằng ngoại tệ ở mức 1/3. Trung Quốc nhằm mục đích hạn chế việc sử dụng đồng đô la Mỹ so với đồng Nhân dân tệ trên thị trường toàn cầu.
